Different Types Of Flanges Used In Piping Applications

Flanges are used for linking valves, tubing, pumps and other pipeline equipment. Flanges are usually sold or threaded, and 2 flanges are bolted together with joints to provide a convenient access seal to the piping system. Types of Flanges:
● Square Flanges: Square rubber flanges are manufactured according to JIS standards B2291/JIS F7806. For the link between pipe to pipe and pipe to parts, square flanges are frequently used. They are most commonly used in hydraulic system lines where fluids flow through and are constructed of two steel and stainless steel materials. A complete collection of square flanges is made up of bolts, O-ring, female flange and male flange (flat side). This is component A of the female flange. The male flange is described in Part B. And the package is AB in its entirety.

● Slip-On Flanges: A slip-on flange is primarily a ring over the pipe, which extends by sufficient distance from the end of the pipe to add a welded flange to the inner diameter of the pipe. These flowers slide through a pipe and are thus known as Slip On Flanges, as the name implies. Often referred to as SO flange is a slip-on flange. I

t is like a flange that is slightly larger than the shaft, with its internal configuration and slides over the pipe. As the inner dimension of the flange is slightly larger than the external size of the shaft, by means of the fillet soldering of the SO flange the top and bottom of the flange may be directly attached to the framework or tube.

● Weld Neck Flanges: The weld neck flange is also known as a flange or a tapered flange for the hub. The flange of the weld neck (WN) has a neck that can transfer the tension of the tubing, thus reducing the tension in the bottom of the flange. It is compatible with high or low-temperature pipelines which are extremely pressure resistant. At the long tapered end, the wall thickness of a pipe or fitting can easily be recognized by the welding collar. A high-pressure, sub-nil and/or high-temperature long container offers considerable security for use in many applications.

● Socket Weld Flanges: The sockets welded flanges are not always recommended for vital services, only linked by a fillet solder on the outside. They are used mostly for short boring lines. Their flexibility equals slip-on flanges, but the strength of their fatigue is 50% higher than the double softened flanging slip. The thickness of the connecting tube should be specified for this type of flange to ensure the proper length of the bore. A distance between the flange or fit and the pipe should be created before welding.
